HISTORY


Grand Master Chung is originally from Seoul, South Korea.  He was an ROK Marine who was brought to the United States to teach martial arts to military personnel.  Grand Master Y.S. Chung Founded the American Tae Kwon Do Foundation (ATF) in 1988 with the focus of setting high standards in a family atmosphere, while encouraging the sharing of ideas, knowledge, and expertise.  Grand Master Chung established the ATF in Montgomery Alabama over 30 years ago has grown to many schools and clubs world wide.

Chung met Chris Sconiers while teaching and Chris became Chung's student. Chris won 2 Tae Kwon Do national championships under his instruction. He received his 1st black belt in 1986 and now has over 30 years of experience in martial arts.

Chief Instructor Chris Sconiers started his teaching career in North Carolina at Young Brothers Taekwondo.  In 2001 he opened up Chung's Tae Kwon Do in Daleville and has been serving the community ever since.

  • Received first Kukkiwon Black Belt in 1995
  • Trained in the World Tae Kwon Do Federation style
  • Over 20 years of experience
